The Spooky Side...

While the original restaurant burned and the family changed locations, the new home has its own past. The building as it stands now used to be a speakeasy. Gambling, prostitution, illicit materials and moonshine flowed like water. After a particularly deadly event in which lives were lost during a shootout over a rigged game of cards, the building was closed by local law enforcement. Actually they shut the door so fast, clean up was never done as bullets and blood were still present when the padlock was cut off the door many years later.

Fried fish isn't the only thing floating around the restaurant for the past 60+ years. The family used to joke about it being squirrels or that "George" was up to something when strange noises occurred or items were displaced. Squirrels and their antics don't quite explain seeing the shadowy forms of people appear and disappear, or hearing your name called out by a gruff voice in the dark.

Patrons and staff over the years have encountered all manner of strange occurrences over the years. Phantom voices, the sound of guns firing, music that comes from everywhere yet nowhere, objects move on their own, and human shaped figures walk the dining room with or without the lights on.

So come on down, get a big plate of fried flounder and a sweet tea. Just know that empty chair across the table may not be so empty after all...
